My Name is Claire Waldrop. In ninth grade, I was diagnosed with Dyslexia, after spending many years struggling to reading, spell and write. In 2013 My eldest child was diagnosed with dyslexia. Since then all three of my children have been diagnosed with dyslexia. My greatest pain has become my greatest passion!
Dyslexia Therapy provides instruction in a one-on-one or small group settings and in public or private situations. The therapy is researched-based approach which evolved from Orton-Gillingham and combines all three modalities-auditory, visual and kinesthetic. The current curriculum has its foundation in Alphabetic Phonics and from the beginning was designed to teach reading, spelling and writing to students identified with dyslexia.
Our mission is to eradicate illiteracy in North Alabama. We are committed to train teachers to provide remediation for children or adults who have been diagnosed with dyslexia or a related language disorder.

The difference between a tutor and therapist is the amount of training he/ she has obtained. Typically to become and therapist one must have over 200 classroom hours, 700 clinical hours with children over a period of two years.
Other difference is a therapist is trained to develop new neurological pathways in the students brain. We typically see our students 3 to 4 times a week for 50 minutes.

Alphabetic Phonics was developed at the Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas ,Texas extended the Orton-Gillingham method to include secondary language functions of writing, spelling, reading and reading comprehension.
A Certified Academic Language Therapist is someone who provides expert, skilled one-on-one or small group intervention, which high frequency over a sustained period of time, which links explicit understanding, repeated practice and performance to develop accurate and fluent reading with comprehension.
